Things here at SKP are humming right along as we get into the holiday season.  Fall sessions are offically over, and SKP will be closed for business from December 1st - January 4th.  The fall mini sessions were a big hit this year, and Katie & I are working like crazy to ensure everyone gets their images in time for Christmas.  Here are some friendly reminders as we approach some tight deadlines:
*Please have your print/product order submitted no later than December 4th.  Earlier is preferred.  :)
*Prints submitted by December 4th will be guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas.  All orders submitted after that deadline will not be processed until after January 4th when SKP re-opens for 2010.
*Rush delivery is not available due to time constraints on my labs.  In order to keep the quality of your products at their very best, we must adhere to certain guidelines.  Thanks for understanding :)
*Any questions regarding your order can be directed to Katie: katiemavros@gmail.com
*Lastly - I posted a sneak peek from this fall mini session a few weeks back, and decided there were just too many great images not to share…so here’s the whole enchilada:

carnival | Illinois lifestlyle family photographer

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a super fun family at our county fair :) Just so happens the momma is a dear friend of mine as well as a photog herself. She suggested we meet at the fair and swap some family shots…and I’m so glad we did! It was a blast, even if I did get some funny looks with two cameras around my neck following a family around like paparazzi ;)  Seriously though, this is what lifestyle sessions are all about - capturing everyday moments with your family that you want to hold onto forever.

Here’s my faves from these little girls’ first trip to the fair…

out of service.

Fyi - I lost my  Blackberry today, and am afraid at this point that it’s been stolen :(  I’ve disconnected the service for security reasons.  For now, the best (and only) way to get ahold of me is by email.  I am trying my best to return all emails within 48 hours…thanks for your patience :)

my turn.

I ‘m speechless.  Crazy, I know :)  Honestly though, I’m at a loss for words.  I probably won’t do a very good job expressing how I’m feeling, but I’ll try anyway…

We had a photographer at Clive’s birth.  I had been anticipating this ever since she was hired by my mother (THANK YOU, MOM!) a few months ago.  The photographer happens to be my dear friend and sister in law, and is a wedding photographer right here in IL.  She and I had been talking and planning for this event for weeks, but neither of us were quite prepared for how utterly amazing it would turn out to be.

Megan posted a sneak peek on her blog for me from the birth, and I was floored with the images.  I’ve always known it would be wonderful to have birth photos, but until I saw them, I didn’t know how much it would affect me.  During the hour and a half of labor at the hospital, everything happened so fast and was so intense that I didn’t have time to really absorb what was happening.  With our other 2 lil ones, I was induced and had drugs, so I took plenty of time to write down what was happening, could think clearly, etc.  With Clive though, it was a different story :)  I arrived at 5cm, went to 7cm 15 min later, and 30 minutes after that was completey dilated.  I was so inside myself, completely absorbed in the pain and what my body needed to do, that it was as if the rest of the world just fell away.  There was noone else there.  Just me, my body, and my baby.  I went from a place of fighting what was happening to my body, to accepting it - taking hold of it - and ultimately conquering it.  Out of all my births, it was hands down the hardest, and certainly the most intense experience of my entire life.  If you’ve given birth, you know exactly what I’m talking about :)

There are details that I would never have remembered would it not have been for these images.   I am so grateful to Megan and the gift she’s shared with us.  What a treasure these images will be for Charlotte & Clive someday.  What a treasure they are for Matt & I now.  My heart just overflows with grattitude.  Thank you, Megan - pencil me in for sometime in 2011, k?  :)

For being at a loss for words, I guess I said enough ;)  You can see the sneak peek here (have tissues on hand):

belated, but still merry.

Merry Christmas to all my wonderful clients!  I sincerely hope each one of you had a wonderful, blessed Christmas, surrounded by those you love.  I wanted to post this on Christmas Eve, but due to my computer problems was unable to.  Better late than never, though!  :)

Here is the inside of our Christmas card for this year - look closely and you may see a little announcement :)

Baby # 3 and SON # 2 is due in May!  :)  I figured I couldn’t keep it under wraps any longer as I’ll be waddling around at some sessions pretty soon :)  I hope you are enjoying the holidays!  Much love ~  S

Giveaway!!

It’s October 1st, and the fall season is finally upon us!  Fall is my favorite season, so what better way to celebrate then to have a contest?!  The prize for this contest is a set of  16 Sarah&Abraham flat personalized note cards - these are my fave!!  I have gifted these to many, many clients as well as used them for myself.  I absolutely adore her stuff, and will have the honor of photographing her in just a few weeks.  She is an inspiring entrepenuer, and there’s nothing better than supporting a work-from-home mom :)  I’m feeling extra generous…so if I receive 15 or more entries in this contest, I’ll also throw in 24 personalized stickers from Sarah&Abraham - whee!  LOOOOVE her stuff!

Contest rules:

1.  Email me a picture of your SKP images on display in your home.  “On display” can mean desktop/framed, wall mounted, etc…however you are displaying your SKP images.  Loose proofs still sitting in the envelope doesn’t count ;)

2.  Quality/technical aspects of the photo do NOT count and won’t affect who wins.

3.  Winner will be drawn at random on Sunday, October 5th and announced on the blog on Monday, October 6th.

4.  You get an extra entry if one of the people IN your displayed images is also in the actual picture you take.

5.  You get an extra entry if you link this contest on your blog/family website.  (Make sure to email your blog/family site address with your photo.)

5.  You get TWO extra entries if YOU are in the actual picture you take.  Be creative!  :)

6.  Email your entry/picture to summer@summerknoblochphotography by Saturday, October 4th.  All entries are final; aka no swapping :)

Good luck!  I can’t wait to see how you chose to display your memories!  You only have 4 days, so get snappin!

fall sessions part 1 :)

Yesterday was my first round of Fall/Holiday Sessions…and I have to say - it was SO much fun!  I loved getting to do multiple shoots back to back and spend all day playing with all kinds of kiddos.  Although I did take a LONG bubble bath last night and had to scrub my feet after playing in the grass all day :)

Here’s just a couple of the kiddos from yesterday (more to come as I weed through the proofs) :)

more to come!
